~ I have a Bachelor of Applied Arts Degree majoring in Fashion Design from Ryerson University. I also took two years of college in Lethbridge…Fashion.

~ I had to take a lot of art classes in Toronto…which included a lot of nude life drawing. At first – intimidating but became beautiful.

~ My friends and I always took photos when we were younger…of everything! These photos would cover walls, mirrors, and fill albums that are now worn out from looking through them.

I started using a manual SLR camera in college taking Fashion Photography. My Dad so graciously let me borrow his and never got it back. Oops.

~ When I went to school it was all film. I think back about how lucky we were. I could shoot a roll of film and drop it off anywhere and it would be ready for pick up the next day (now it has to be shipped…unless you’re fortunate to live near a great film lab!).Of course that was the easy way to do it, dropping it off, but in school we often had to develop our own film. It was so amazing to see the images come to paper when it was placed in the chemicals. At Ryerson, it went through huge machines so it was a little like cheating but much quicker!

I used to get school mates to model for me. I would set my reading lamps up with sheer cloths over them and then we would shoot in my teeny tiny student housing room.

~ Right out of University, I started teaching fashion at the Lethbridge College. It was a lot of fun, so much hard work, and very overwhelming. I had never taught or taken classes on how to instruct and many of the students were my age and older. It doesn’t help that I looked about 12 at the time…

~ I ended up marrying my high school sweetheart. He played hockey where I grew up. We dated 7 years before we got married. Then we had kids 8 years later.

~ Between marriage and kids, I started a business – Peter Posies Closet. I would go through your wardrobe, create outfits, take clothes that needed to ‘go’ and alter or redesign ones that worked but needed tweeking. I had an alteration shop in Olds and another one downtown Calgary in the Grain Exchange building (it would have made an AMAZING photography studio!!). It was a tonne of fun but the alterations were so much work and in such high demand and I was driving quite a bit so burn out eventually came into play.

~ We have twin boys (4 years old) thanks to IVF (in vitro fertilization). Science is amazing. I can’t imagine not having my babies. Like many other couples we spent hours visiting the Regional Fertility Clinic. They have this great fundraiser called the Generations of Hope. The Generations of Hope assists in funding. It gives others an opportunity to try IVF. If this hadn’t worked for us, we would have adopted but as you can see by ‘twins’, this treatment was a success!

~ It was around this time that we discovered I have a blister on my retina…basically leaving me blind in the center of one eye. I thank God that I have two eyes! I also have an amazing Optometrist!

~ 17 months after having the boys we were blessed with a daughter. No assistance needed. 3 babes 17 months and under. I had a couple of buffed arms from hauling them around!
